Grandeur and Triviality || 6 June 2016

| Oneonta Gorge and Lost Lake at Nightfall |

The first time I saw the Milky Way, I was driving from Flagstaff to Phoenix. The two other guys and I stopped on the side of the highway in the middle of the Arizona desert and looked up and saw this trail reach out of the earth into the night sky.

I'll never forget that experience.

Every time since then that I've seen the Milky Way, I always get this feeling of awareness and awe. A creeping sensation of grandeur and triviality. Grandeur from knowing that I'm made up of that same start dust and triviality of knowing that I'm made up of that same star dust.

It's important to get that feeling sometimes in today's world of intense connectivity and social media.
so wherever you are, I hope tonight you can step outside and look up.
